Williams: 'The only thing I'm chasing is wins'

October 15, 2018 - 5:31 pm

Although the Buffalo Bills suffered a crushing defeat to the Houston Texans on Sunday, the defense had a stellar afternoon against Deshaun Watson and the Houston offense.

The Bills got to Watson a number of times throughout the afternoon, sacking the second-year signal caller seven times and hitting him a total of 15 times. The defense also accumulated 14.5 tackles for loss (includes sacks), force three fumbles, and pick off Watson twice.

Overall, the Texans could only must a total of 216 yards and 13 points against the Bills defense. However, it was the Buffalo offense that cost the Bills the win with just 13 points scored and two late interceptions by Nathan Peterman, including a pick-six, to sink their chances of a victory.

One player who played a huge role in the success of the defense on Sunday was defensive tackle Kyle Williams. The 35-year-old has not slowed down at all as he posted three tackles, two of which being sacks, and got to Watson a total of four times.

Williams took the time on Monday to join Mike Schopp and the Bulldog for his weekly appearance on WGR. Here is some of what the 13-year veteran had to say:

Williams on Peterman's performance in Houston:

"You have peaks and valleys anywhere in life. Peterman has definitely had some of those so far in the NFL."

Williams on the Bills locker room:

"I think we've got some really sound-minded guys in this room. You're either going to let it define you and learn from it, or go in the tank."

Williams on the defensive performance against the Texans:

"I think [the defense] really put the team in a position to win. Unfortunately, we as a whole were not able to put that nail in the coffin."

"It was a good day, not a great day. A great day would have been closing out that win."

"We're just really trying to stay in the mindset that we are going to grow every day and be better because of it. We've got a young defense in some areas."

Williams on parity in the NFL:

"That's the ultimate challenge as a football team. You look at the last two weeks, there were like 7 or 8 teams that lost this week, who were coming off a win two weeks ago."

Williams on what he pays attention to most:

"The main statistic I pay attention to is wins."

"At this point in my career, the only thing I'm chasing is wins."
