UB women earn a 10-seed in upcoming Women's NCAA Tournament

March 18, 2019 - 5:40 pm

The University at Buffalo’s women’s basketball team (23-9, 12-6 MAC) learned where they’ll be playing in the upcoming NCAA Women’s Tournament, as well as their seeding this evening; albeit in unorthodox fashion.

Due to an unforeseen leak by ESPN, the MAC Champion Bulls learned their fate when the network accidentally leaked the bracket early on television.

After the leak, ESPN PR released a statement apologizing for the mishap, and in wake of the instance the bracket reveal was moved up from 7p.m. to 5p.m.  Come the top of the hour, it was confirmed that UB would be serving as a 10-seed.  Their first matchup will be against #7 Rutgers this Friday at 4:30p.m. in Storrs, Connecticut.

A couple of WGR Sports Radio 550 personalities have sounded off on the NCAA’s decision to have both Bulls teams playing at roughly the same time on Friday afternoon; last night, we learned the #6 men’s team would be taking on the winner of Arizona State and St. John’s on Friday around 4p.m.

Regardless, mark your calendars and have a couple of listening or viewing mediums handy to make sure you can take in all the UB action coming up later this week.
