UB men's basketball announces extension with head coach Nate Oats

March 14, 2019 - 4:12 pm

Just hours after the UB Bulls men's basketball team cruised past the Akron Zips in the MAC Quarter-Finals, the news kept flowing.  The Bulls and head coach Nate Oats inked a contract that will keep the two-time reigning MAC Coach of the Year in Buffalo until 2024.

UB Director of Athletics Mark Alnutt also chimed in via social media to announced the signing of Oats.

Oats has served as head coach of the Bulls since the 2015-16 season, compiling a 92-42 record.  In those four seasons, Oats led UB to two MAC regular season championships ('17-'18, '18-'19), a pair MAC Tournament Championships ('15-'16, '17-'18), and two NCAA Tournament berths ('15-'16, '17-'18).  The Bulls are coming off a historic regular season in 2018-19, going 28-3 and 16-2 in conference en route to a number-one seed in the ongoing MAC Tournament.  The team is currently awaiting the winner of Kent State and Central Michigan, to see who they will face in the MAC Semi-Finals tomorrow night.
