UB Bulls Quarterback Tyree Jackson has been placed on the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award preseason watch list. The Davey O’Brien Award is given out to the best Quarterback in the nation after the football season.

Jackson is the first quarterback in Bulls history named to the watch list. Jackson had a good season last year, putting up 2,096 passing yards, 12 touchdowns, and only 3 interceptions. On top of his passing stats, he also got 196 yards and 4 touchdowns on the ground. He did that in just eight games.

The watch list has 26 names in total on it. Some of the other notable players on the list are Alabama’s Jalen Hurts, Auburn’s Jarrett Stidham, Georgia’s Jake Fromm and Clemson’s Kelly Bryant. While the competition will be tough, this award is somewhat of a popularity contest with fans voting for five percent of the ballots along with a selection committee, selecting the winner at the end of the season on VoteOBrien.org.

The 42nd Annual Davey O'Brien Awards Dinner will be held in Fort Worth, Texas on Monday, February 18, 2019.
