Tiger Woods falters late in Round 1 at the Open Championship

July 19, 2018 - 4:28 pm

The first round of the British Open at the Carnoustie Golf Links ended Thursday afternoon with very few big names a top the leader board.

Kevin Kisner is alone in first, shooting 5 under par. There's a three way tie for second place with Erik Van Rooyen, Tony Finau, and Zander Lombard all shooting 4 under. Tied for fifth place at three under par are Brendan Steele, Brandon Stone, and Ryan Moore.

Some big names that aren't quite at the top of the scoreboard are Rory McIlroy at 2 under, Jordan Spieth at one over par, and Tiger Woods was even on the day.

Woods was two under going into the back nine, but some late bogies pulled him back to even par.

The course, Cournistie Golf Links in Scotland, was insanely dry on Thursday. Serigo Garcia at one point hit a drive that rolled over 100 yards, straight through the fairway and into a creek in front of the green.

The Open will continue tomorrow morning. Tiger tees off at 5:20am EST. You'll see a lot of Jordan Spieth and Rickie Fowler who tee off at about 10am.
