(WGR 550) - It was reported earlier on Tuesday by Swedish radio reporter Magnus Wahlman that Buffalo Sabres restricted free agent Johan Larsson has signed with Brynäs IF in the SHL. However, Larsson's agent Craig Oster tells WGR Sports Radio 550 that Larsson has not signed with Brynäs.

Swedish sports journalist Daniel Sandström has spoken with Brynäs general manager Michael Sundlov, and he said negotiations have not even started with Larsson. Sundlov added, "It remains to be seen. Unfortunately, it feels far-fetched. But no one would be happier than we. If he is going home to Sweden, we hope that he will come to us. But there are many teams in KHL and Europe as well."

Larsson played for two seasons in Brynas ending in 2012. The Swedish center was a second round pick by Minnesota in 2010. He played one game with the Wild before being traded to Buffalo in April of 2013. Larsson came to the Sabres along with Matt Hackett, Nikita Zadorov and Vaclav Karabacek for Jason Pominville and William Lagesson.

Larsson played 330 games in Buffalo, scoring 32 goals and 47 assists for 79 points.
