Buffalo, NY (WGR 550) - Coming into Saturday’s game Johan Larsson had four goals and three assists for seven points in 38 games. Lately he’s had two goals and an assist which is all they need from him, a modest contribution to go with his very good defensive play. Larsson said, “I just feel like they’re going in right now. The chances are going in, I’m getting some lucky bounces and earlier in the year they didn’t go in for me, but now it’s going in and it’s nice to see.”

It doesn’t seem to matter who Larsson plays with, his line seems to be able to get down into the offensive zone and get a good cycle going. Larsson said, “We want to get down there as fast as we can and be heavy so we can create something down low.”

Larsson has been part of a penalty kill that came into Saturday third in the National Hockey League.

Kyle Okposo has two goals and three points in his last five games. He credits Larsson in helping his game, “I think Larry has been playing well all season and he does a really good job in the defensive zone and coming low to support the puck he he’s been creating that momentum up the ice which makes it easy for him to get you the puck and then he comes up with speed through the middle of the ice and we’re able to play in the offensive zone, so he’s played great this year and he’s definitely helped out my game too.”

In the game against Tampa Bay, the Larsson line again spent most of the night in the offensive zone. They were relentless on the forcheck and didn’t allow the Lightning to run the plays in their breakouts that they like.
