The Sabres head to San Jose even on their current trip

October 18, 2018 - 2:46 pm

(WGR 550) - The Sabres split the first two games of their five-game western swing with a game in San Jose tonight.

Goal scoring has been a big problem for the Sabres as only one team has scored less than Buffalo. Arizona averages 0.60 goals per-game while the Sabres, Vegas and Los Angeles are at two goals per-game. San Jose is 20th in the league scoring 2.83 goals per-game.

The Sabres went 0-for-6 on the power play in Vegas and have fallen to 21st in the NHL.

Sam Reinhart has not scored a goal yet this season and Jack Eichel hasn’t scored in three games. Their left winger Conor Sheary has just one goal in four games.

Buffalo is 6-3-1 in its last 10 games in the Shark Tank.

Carter Hutton is 4-1-1 in his career against the Sharks. That includes a save percentage of .955 and goals against of 1.32.

Here are the Wednesday practice lines from @BuffaloSabres:

Sheary - Eichel - Reinhart

Skinner - Mittelstadt - Okposo

Elie/Berglund - Sobotka - Thompson

Girgensons - Rodrigues  Pominville

Scandella - Ristolainen

McCabe - Dahlin

Beaulieu - Bogosian

This is only San Jose’s second home game of the season. They lost the season opener at home to Anaheim. The Sharks are back after going 2-2-1 on their road trip. They only have one win in four games, but in the win, they scored eight goals in Philadelphia.

Former Sabres forward Evander Kane leads the Sharks with four goals and five points. In goal, Martin Jones is 1-3-0 with a 3.05 goals against and .880 save percentage.

Join me and Brian Koziol for the pre-game beginning at 9:30.
