The Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation announced an enormous gift unto both the Western New York and Detroit, Michigan communities. The Foundation announced an overall $200 million dollar donation for parks and trails investments in the communities; both of which will be receiving $100 million dollars.

$50 million dollars-worth of the Western New York donation will be invested in LaSalle Park in Buffalo. The park will be re-named the "Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Centennial Park." The other $50 million dollars will be put towards the support to regional trails in the Western New York areas, as well as southeast Michigan.

Wilson was called one of the city's "greatest champions" by Mayor Byron Brown; "...his vision illuminated our landscape and his humanity enriched our community."

Wilson would have turned 100-years-old today.
