Well, that happened fast.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Patriots have traded Rob Gronkowski and a seventh-round pick to Tampa Bay in exchange for a fourth-round pick, pending a physical. Tampa Bay has two fourth rounders -- Nos. 117 and 139. It is unclear which one is coming back to New England.

Earlier Tuesday it was reported Gronkowski told the Patriots he wanted to unretire to play with Tom Brady. Since the Patriots hold his rights, a trade needed to be made.

Gronkowski joins tight ends Cameron Brate and O.J. Howard in Tampa Bay, which makes it a little surprising the Patriots did not get one of them in return.

The former Patriots tight end has been on record for a few years saying how much he loved playing with Brady, and also he never truly shut the door on a return during his year off last season.
