The Buffalo Beauts have been busy this offseason, stock piling talent ahead of the upcoming 2018-19 season in the National Women's Hockey League. The Beauts have already signed some high-profile names this season, including goalies Shannon Szabados and Nicole Hensley, forwards Kelly Babstock and Dani Cameranesi, and defenseman Blake Bolden.

On Thursday, the Beauts added another high-profile talent to the roster, bringing back Getzville native Emily Pfalzer for another season.

Pfalzer, 25, returns to her hometown team for a third season after spending time with the Beauts from 2015 to 2017. Pfalzer captained the Beauts in their first two years of existence, and helped Buffalo capture the 2017 Isobel Cup title over the Boston Pride. In 32 career games with the Beauts, Pfalzer has scored three goals and registered 19 points.

Last season, Pfalzer missed the entire NWHL as she competed for Team USA at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea. She went pointless in five games played for the Americans, but ended up helping her team win the country's second ever gold medal in the Olympic games.

The U.S. ended up beating Team Canada in the gold medal game, 3-2 in a shootout.

Pfalzer is also a three-time gold medalist at the IIHF Women's World Championship (2015, 2016 and 2017), as well as a gold medalist at the IIHF Under-18 Women's World Championship (2011).

The Beauts open their 2018-19 season on Sunday, October 7 on the road against the Connecticut Whale. Buffalo's first home game will be against the Whale on Saturday, October 13 at HarborCenter. Tickets can be purchased at

Pfalzer took some time on Thursday to join Andrew Peters and Craig Rivet on The Instigators. You can hear her entire interview below:
