McDermott: "You need your quarterback to play well on a consistent basis"

November 05, 2018 - 5:47 pm

As per usual to start the work week, Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott joined WGR Sports Radio 550 after his Monday press conference with the media.

Here are some of the notable comments from McDermott's time with Mike Schopp.

McDermott on the quarterback position:

"It's a big area that you need to have play well, regardless of what happens at the other positions.  You need your quarterback to play well, and play well on a consistent basis."

McDermott on the state of the NFL:

"You look at the scores every week, especially the game last night [Saints-Rams].  That's what you have to do; you have to score to give yourself a chance to win football games."

McDermott on the HC/QB relationship:

"I steal some time with Josh [Allen] throughout the week.  It's an important relationship, the coach and the young first-round quarterback."

McDermott on Allen's injury progression:

"When you combine the scripted plays and the warm-ups, we count them up and it's about 100 throws [today at practice], maybe a little north of that number.  We're trying to mimic what he would throw in a normal practice."

McDermott on team development:

"I go to bed thinking about it, and wake up thinking about it.  We're constantly trying to find ways to improve.  From the amount of repetitions in practice, to the way we practice, and how we go about researching different things."
