From the Locker Room: Sabres-Flyers

December 08, 2018 - 4:07 pm

The Buffalo Sabres completely collapsed in a 6-2 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday at KeyBank Center..

Despite a fast start to this game for the Sabres, the Flyers responded with six unanswered goals, four of them coming in the third period. The Sabres have now lost five games in a row, but are still looking fine with a 10-3-2 record over their last 15 games.

Let's go inside the locker room and see what Jack Eichel, Lawrence Pilut and Phil Housley had to say after the home loss:

Jack Eichel:

On today's effort: "That's not us... I think we are losing sight of what made us successful... We have to realize we haven't earned anything in this league because we won a couple of games."

On the Flyers offensive effort: "They did a good job but I didn't think we were working in our own zone... it's pretty simple, it's just hard work."

Lawrence Pilut:

On first point: "In one way it was special (that my family was here), in one way it would have been special if we won."

On: "We needed to stick to our game plan more... (we will) learn from it"

Phil Housley:

On today's effort: "Once we got the two goals... we thought it was going to be an easy game... we stopped checking."

On what went wrong today: "We didn't stay true to what made us successful. We are a hard checking team and we got away from that... today was a stinker."
