December 16, 2018 - 11:15 pm

The Buffalo Sabres battled their way to a 4-2 victory over the Bruins on Sunday night in Boston. With the win the Sabres come out of their weekend road trip to Washington and Boston with three out of a possible four points.

Jack Eichel continued his stellar play and turned in another strong performance in his hometown. The Sabres captain tallied a point on all four Buffalo goals, finishing with two goals and two assists.

Jeff Skinner netted the other two goals for the Sabres, including the go-ahead score that gave Buffalo a 3-2 lead with 3:31 left in the game. Rasmus Dahlin and Sam Reinhart both had  solid games as well. Dahlin logged nearly 20 minutes of ice time and tallied two assists and Reinhart recorded assists on each of the final three Sabre goals.

Linus Ullmark had one of his best performances of the season in goal. He stopped 35 of 37 shots and made countless big saves to keep the score close throughout the entire game.

Let's go inside the locker room to hear from Eichel, Skinner, Ullmark and coach Phil Housley following the Sabres win in Boston.....

Jack Eichel

On winning in his hometown and bouncing back from Washington: "It's always special coming back home and having a lot of family and friends here. It's awesome we played such a good game as a group. We just stuck with it. Obviously last night's outcome wasn't the one we wanted, probably wanted two points there and we thought we could've had it. It's great to come in here less than 24 hours later and get two points and move on."

On team becoming more confident in one another and staying in games: "With the way our season started this year I think we have a lot of confidence in each other and a belief that we think we can win every game we play. It was no different tonight. We thought 'if we do the right things and don't break we'll give ourselves a chance to win,' and we did that."

Jeff Skinner

On Eichel's assist on the go-ahead goal: "It's a great pass. You just have to try and create some space to try and get the shot off. [Eichel] draws so much coverage to him and he's so good with the puck, even when he's got pressure on him. You just have to be ready and be aware and find open space as much as you can."

On team's effort and defense's play: "You have to have everyone contributing. Both goalies played really well and the defense played tremendous. They were up in the play and made it tough for Boston to create space in the neutral zone. When you're playing top teams like that it's going to take everyone. This was a big road trip, something we can build off of and take it into the next home game."

Linus Ullmark

On stopping Ryan Donato's penalty shot: "It's just me against him and I try to be as patient as possible on my feet. You just breathe and you enjoy the moment. There's nothing more I can do than just focus, take a couple deep breaths and looking forward to it."

On team's effort and significance of victory: "We're a terrific team. Top of the league. We have to stick with it, [the NHL] is a tough league and we can't take anything for granted. You're just as good as your last game. We have to get back to work back in Buffalo."

Phil Housley

On team's start, Ullmark and Jack Eichel's line: "I just realy liked the way we started. I think at one point it was 7-1 in shots and obviously Linus made a huge save on the penalty shot. Our penalty kill was excellent again tonight and we battled through the game. This is a tough building to win in and Linus came up big. Jack's line, particularly Jack, stepped up another notch tonight and all those little details add up."

On Rasmus Dahlin and his performance: "He's just brought his game to another level. Especially under the circumstances tonight. He played 24 or 25 minutes last night and then comes back and plays almost 20 tonight. He's attacking the game with speed offensivley, he's reloading with meaningful strides and coming back into our zone. He's just playing a 200-foot game, a very complete game right now."
