December 08, 2018 - 1:07 pm

Jack Eichel's eighth goal of the season came just over four minutes into the game, giving the Sabres a 1-0 lead over Philadelphia. Sam Reinhart and Jeff Skinner assisted on the game's first goal. Eichel now has three goals in his last two home games, with two coming against Toronto on Tuesday.

Eichel was able to re-direct Lawrence Pilut's shot from the blue line into the net past Anthony Stolarz to extend the blue and gold's lead to 2-0 midway through the first. Pilut picked up his first career NHL point with the primary assist, along with Rasmus Ristolainen the secondary assist.

Philadelphia would answer back minutes later thanks to James van Riemsdyk. The forward's goal cut the Buffalo lead to 2-1 in the opening frame.
