Bills place WR Jones on Non-Football Injury List, release DT Palepoi

A couple of transactions were made by the Buffalo Bills one day prior to their official first training camp practice. Per Sal Capaccio, the organization has placed second-year wide receiver Zay Jones on the Active/Non-Football Injury List, and also released three-year veteran Tenny Palepoi.

Jones, Buffalo's second-round pick in 2017, had quite the offseason; unfortunately highlighted by a very odd incident in a Los Angeles hotel with his brother Cayleb. Along with that situation, Jones also underwent knee surgery that prematurely forced him out of the team's spring workouts.

Jones appeared in 15 games in his rookie campaign last year, and started 10. In those appearances, he hauled in 27 receptions for 316 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

His absence from training camp may pose as a serious chance for fellow wide receiver Brandon Reilly to attain some serious looks from the coaching staff.

As for Palepoi, this release may mean he will never suit up for the Bills, at least for this season.  The defensive tackle spent three previous, separate seasons with the San Diego/Los Angeles Chargers (2014, 2016-17) where he appeared in 44 career games.  Despite those appearances, he never recorded a career start while out on the West coast.

Palepoi accounted for one career fumble recovery (2016), one career sack (2017) and posted 35 career tackles for the Chargers.

Training camp officially kicks off for the Bills tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. from St. John Fisher College.
