Bills at Steelers week 15 flexed to Sunday Night Football

December 01, 2019 - 9:48 pm

The NFL has announced that the Buffalo Bills at Pittsburgh Steelers game on Sunday, December 15 has been flexed from a 1:00 PM to 8:20 PM kickoff and will be aired nationally on NBC's Sunday Night Football.

The game could have major playoff implications for both teams. The Bills currently stand at 9-3 and hold the AFC's first wild card spot, while the Steelers are 7-5 and currently hold the second wild card position.

The Bills win over the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day in Dallas was the most watched NFL regular season game in three years, drawing over 32 million viewers, while the Steelers are always a big draw to national television.

Until the announcement came Sunday night, the Bills were the only NFL team who was not scheduled to play a primtime game this season. They'll not only appear on Sunday Night Football now, but will also play a nationally televised 4:30 PM kickoff at the New England Patriots the following Saturday, December 21, which was announced a couple weeks ago.

The Bills last Sunday Night Football game came back in 2007 when they lost to the Patriots 56-10 in Orchard Park. New England finished that regular season 16-0, but lost in the Super Bowl.
