11 Day Power Play postponed due to COVID-19 pandemic

June 04, 2020 - 11:19 am

With the coronavirus pandemic still being an issue locally and in the best interest for the safety of the players, volunteers, and fans, the 11 Day Power Play organization has announced the postponement of their 2020 Community Shift event at Harborcenter in July.

In a statement released by executive director Amy Lesakowski, tentative reschedule dates are set for August 19-30, with the event remaining at Harborcenter as long as New York State Health Department regulations and the venue allow for it.

However, if there is no on-ice availability for the dates in August, it will not stop the 11 Day Power Play from holding an event to support cancer research, people with cancer, and the programs that support cancer patients and their families.

Organizers will then hold the 11 Day Power Play Big Save from August 19-30, which will be an event full of competitive fundraising blitzes by the competing teams and their players. The entire event will be documented.

A final decision for the 2020 event will be made in the next two weeks.
